Why a hangover feels so rough
Alcohol is a diuretic, so a night of drinking means losing more water than usual. That dehydration adds to the headache, fatigue, and brain fog of the next morning. Alcohol also disrupts sleep, which leaves you more tired.
Water and rest help. When they are not cutting it, a hangover IV gets fluids and nutrients into your bloodstream directly, without asking a queasy stomach to keep anything down.
How an in-home hangover IV works
- Book online or text us. Fill out a short intake form covering allergies, medications, and how you feel.
- Provider teleconsult. A licensed medical provider reviews your history by video or phone, included free with every appointment.
- Your nurse arrives. A registered nurse comes to your home, hotel, or rental with sterile, single-use supplies.
- The drip. The IV usually runs 30 to 60 minutes. Lie down, close the curtains, and rest.
- Wrap-up. Your nurse removes the IV and packs out every used supply.
Hotels, parties, and group trips
Hangover IVs are a big part of travel and celebration weekends. Modwella nurses serve busy hotel and party destinations across our 12 states, including Las Vegas, Scottsdale, Austin, and Nashville.
Staying in a hotel? See hotel IV therapy. Booking for the whole group? Groups of 2+ save 10%, 5+ save 15%, and 10+ save 20% with Group & Save. Your nurse can set up several drips in one suite.
Who should talk to a provider first
A hangover IV is not right for everyone. Tell your provider if you are pregnant, have heart or kidney problems, take regular medications, or have had a reaction to an IV or to Zofran or Toradol before. Your provider may adjust your drip or skip an add-on.
An IV at home is not emergency care. If someone is confused, cannot stay awake, has trouble breathing, has a seizure, or cannot stop vomiting, call 911.
How to prep
Sip some water if you can. Wear a top with sleeves that roll up easily. Find a comfortable chair, couch, or bed with an arm free. If you are at a hotel, give us the room number and make sure your nurse can reach you.
Not a hangover?
